Romance Vs. Love   no comments

Posted at 12:56 pm in General

Love is at times the product of long courtship usually involving romance. But love can also be produced amongst people whose bonding with others has nothing to do with romance, such as the bonds between family members or friends.

Non-romantic Love

  • People find comfort in a common background and a protective unit provided by family members and usually associate their feelings for family with love even if they do not like their family members. Love between friends is usually brought about through common interests and shared experiences.

    Romance Without Love

  • Romance is defined as a “love affair” (Webster’s New World College Dictionary), and was made popular during the Medieval Age through the idea of chivalry. Romance is generally thought of as the experience of excitement mixed with attraction and intimation between two post-pubescent people. Though a romance is made greater with deeper feelings of love, a person can be romanced by another for physical satisfaction alone.

    Romantic Love

  • The process of romantic love between people typically starts with courtship, which usually involves dates, presents and/or a lot of time spent together. Over time, feelings grow stronger to become love, “a deep and tender feeling of affection or attachment or devotion to a person.”

Reasons People Break Up or Divorce

  • The end of romance between people does not mean the end of love, but the lack of romance between two people can mean the end of a relationship. Once a relationship lacks excitement, a couple may re-evaluate their commitment to each other.

    Keeping the Romance Alive

  • There are many ways to keep passion a part of your relationship. Discover new ways to surprise your spouse and keep yourself curious about his or her desires.
